A driver of a $250,000 Lamborghini found out the hard way what happens when you escape from police multiple times, as if it were a getaway cutscene from Grand Theft Auto. Officers from the Yonkers Police Department in New York were alerted to a man from The Bronx who had fled from the cops in multiple jurisdictions and had entered their city. Assuming that the driver would likely try to flee again, officers decided to trap him in a parking lot instead.
Police successfully trap 23-year-old Lamborghini driver in Yonkers
On July 13, officers located Mohammed Al Lahabi after the AWARE Crime Control Center received a License Plate Reader alert that his Lamborghini Urus, which had a suspended registration, was in a parking lot on Bronx River Road, according to a post on the official Facebook page of the Yonkers Police Department.
Footage from the paired video shows that, while the driver was running an errand, an officer swiftly placed a Stop Stick deflation device under the tires, so that they would pop if he decided to flee. When Al Lahabi returned to the vehicle, police surrounded him and watched as he drove over the device.
Several officers then dashed in and attempted to smash the tinted window on the passenger seat side. It took multiple swings before the glass gave way while the man backed up and accelerated several times trying to escape. However, another police patrol car had already boxed him in from the front.
After an officer is finally able to open the passenger seat door, the man is forced to lurch from the driver’s seat over to the passenger side before being pulled out and handcuffed.
“I understand, I’mma come out,” Al Lahabi replies. “Can I put my slippers on, please? I didn’t do nothin’. What am I being arrested for? You guys comin’ at me for no reason.”
Al Lahabi has been charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree and assault in the second degree, with additional charges still pending upon further investigation.
