One man thought it would a good idea to hurl a huge rock through a deputy’s car window, but he quickly found himself on the ground with his hands behind his back. Bodycam footage from a deputy sitting in a police patrol truck shows a stone suddenly shattering the side window of the car, sending glass all over the driver’s seat. But with some quick thinking, she was able to spot the suspect and pursued the man.
Suspect quickly arrested after shattering deputy’s car window
In footage shared on Facebook by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office in Washington, Deputy Chavez was in her patrol car on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Home Depot in Everett when a stone was launched through the driver’s side window.
The deputy swiftly took out her service weapon before opening the door and scanning the parking lot for a potential suspect. Moving around her vehicle, she alerted other deputies of the incident. As they rushed in to support her, Chavez went back to the driver’s side and dislodged the rock, which was stuck between the wheel and the dashboard.
The deputy got back into the driver’s seat, ignoring the shattered glass in her seat as she continued to survey the area in her car. In less than a minute, she spotted a man running across the parking lot and got out of her vehicle, ordering the suspect to get on the ground. Chavez had to repeat her order several times before the man complied.
The video then skips about a minute ahead to two fellow deputies arriving on the scene while Chavez detained the suspect. They arrested the man on the ground, applying pressure with their knees on the suspect’s back as they placed handcuffs on him.
