Sydney Sweeney recently revealed that she enjoyed playing Cassie in Euphoria. She also shared that the “freeing” nature of the role inspired her to approach future acting parts similarly.
What Sydney Sweeney will carry from Euphoria to her next roles
Sydney Sweeney recently sat down for an interview where she reflected on her time playing Cassie in Euphoria Season 3. The actress revealed to Vanity Fair that she had an idea of her character’s journey. However, she clarified that the specifics were unclear until she received the scripts.
During the discussion, she described Cassie as “a challenging role” that tested her acting range. She also said that playing her felt “free” and that she would use what she learned in her future acting roles.
“When we would film, we would do some takes, and then Sam [Levinson] would be like, ‘Okay, let’s do a crazy take,'” she added. “And I found this crazy version of Cassie that was so freeing as an actor, where there were no rules, no idea what was gonna come out, and it just changed the entire performance, and I want to be able to carry that freedom into other performances and other characters that I play.”
Further in the interview, Sweeney expressed interest in learning more as her career grew. Sharing her love for producing, she said that the opportunity to direct something would “happily” challenge her.
Moreover, the 28-year-old said that none of her roles were close to her real-life persona. “Everybody thinks they have me figured out, but they have no clue who I actually am,” she remarked. Sweeney reasoned that this was why she enjoyed acting and playing “different characters,” stressing, “It wouldn’t be fun playing myself.”
Meanwhile, all eight episodes of Euphoria Season 3 are currently streaming on HBO Max. In addition to Sweeney, the show features Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, and Toby Wallace.
