CBS is expanding the Boston Blue universe with the addition of familiar faces from Blue Bloods. According to new reports, several franchise veterans are lined up for appearances later this season. The spin-off series will welcome back key members of the Reagan family while also introducing new guests.
Another Reagan family member set to debut in Boston Blue
CBS is preparing to bring additional Blue Bloods legacy characters into Boston Blue.
Several members of the Reagan family are scheduled to appear during the first season of the spinoff series. Len Cariou, known for his role as Henry Reagan on the long-running police drama, will make his debut on the new show in an upcoming spring episode. Meanwhile, Bridget Moynahan and Marisa Ramirez are also slated to return to the franchise later in the season.
Donnie Wahlberg appeared to disclose the details accidentally during a virtual Television Critics Association panel while discussing Danny Reagan’s storyline following his move from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department. The remarks were later were later confirmed through reporting by TVLine and Matt’s Inside Line. They also provided specific episode details for the returning cast members.
TVLine reports that Len Cariou will make his appearance in Episode 13, which is scheduled to air in April. Meanwhile, Bridget Moynahan is expected to return in Episode 17, set for May. Separately, Matt’s Inside Line confirmed that Marisa Ramirez will rejoin the series in Episode 15, also airing in April.
Wahlberg suggested that the upcoming appearances will explore the consequences of Danny’s decision to transfer departments. He also noted that unresolved tension remains between Danny and Baez after their last encounter. “I think there are layers to all this still, right? So there is, of course, Maria, and I think they’re figuring things out,” the actor said.
Boston Blue is scheduled to return with Episode 10 on Friday, February 27, at 10 p.m. on CBS.
