The day Marvel fans have waited for finally arrived when Thor: Love and Thunder dropped into theaters last night, raking in an impressive $29 million. Superhero movie stans were all over the latest installment of the Norse god’s escapades, which stars Chris Hemsworth at the titular hardbody, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Christian Bale as Gorr, and Tessa Thompson as King Valkyrie. The flick was directed by Taika Waititi, who also co-wrote the film.
Per IMDB, the new film’s focus was thus: “Thor’s retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”
Intriguing enough, but it seems this film was incredibly divisive on the internet. Movie-goers either loved or hated the feature.
