Japanese Kayaker Banned After Spiking Rival’s Drink With Steroids

I would be the first to admit that I don’t know the first thing about kayaking, I really don’t. All I know is that if I were to try it the chances of me falling off and drowning are pretty damn high. I also know that this is the first time I’m writing a story about kayaking. And that’s because it involves a Japanese kayaker named Yasuhiro Suzki who has admitted to tampering with his rival’s drink.

Late last year, fellow kayaker, Seiji Komatsu failed a drug test and was disqualified from the 2017 Canoe Sprint Japan Championships, but denied ever doing any steroids. Well it looks like the weight of the guilt was too much for Suzuki so he finally admitted that he was the one that spiked Komatsu’s drink with an anabolic steroid.

It seems the 32-year-old told federation officials that “he was frustrated and did not think he could win.”  Oh boy. Well now because of all this Komatsu’s punishment has been reversed so he will be able to compete in future competitions, including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and Suzuki has just been handed an eight-year ban from the sport.

Just eight years? Man, can’t even imagine what gets you a lifetime ban. Probably murder. Yeah, let’s go with that.
