Holiday Gift Guide | Gaming Gifts For All Types of Players

-Seize the season with PayPal-

Buying gifts for a gamer isn’t just about picking up the latest software release and calling it a day. While there are certainly some must-have titles (ones that I’ve included in this here list), there’s also other peripherals and hardware which help to enhance and perfect the gaming experience.

If you’re buying for a gamer, you can’t go wrong with these items:

PlayStation 4 Pro

Sony’s flagship console for 2017 is the PlayStation 4 Pro. Capable of outputting content at the trendy new 4K resolution, the PS4 Pro is one of two (see below) systems that work well when paired with a 4K TV. $399

Xbox One X

The Xbox One X knocked the PS4 Pro down a peg, claiming the “most powerful console” crown for itself. If you can do without Sony exclusives like UnchartedHorizon Zero Dawn and The Last of Us, then this is the ultimate console for 4K gaming. $499

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch doesn’t do 4K, but it does do fun! Nintendo’s hybrid console offers both a portability and at-home docked mode, making it a kind of 2-in-1. With huge exclusives like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this system demands to be taken seriously. $299.99

TVs

When shopping for a TV for gaming at the end of 2017, you’ll want to look out for key phrases like 4K and HDR. Both the aforementioned Xbox One X and PS4 Pro will make good use of these features, so decide on a budget and push for 4K and HDR (preferably HDR10).

Destiny 2

One of the biggest games of 2017 is Destiny 2. Even if the gamer in your life hasn’t played the original, Destiny 2 can still be enjoyed as a standalone experience. This sci-fi shooter builds on the foundations of the first title, making everything bigger, better, and more addicting then ever! $59.99

Call of Duty: WWII

Another huge game of 2017 is Call of Duty: WWII. Marking the return to boots-on-ground shooter gameplay, this is the Call of Duty that everyone wants to play! $59.99

Horizon Zero Dawn

Available exclusively on PlayStation 4, Horizon Zero Dawn launched back in February, but is set to be expanded with The Frozen Wilds expansion. If you know a PlayStation gamer who somehow missed this must-play, gift them this open-world adventure! $49.99

Ultimate Headset

Razer’s Thresher Ultimate wireless surround sound gaming headset truly is the ‘ultimate’ option for gamers. With 7.1 surround sound, and up to 16 hours of playtime on a single charge, you can be sure every minute audio detail is heard during even the longest of play sessions. $249.99

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

On December 12, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds lands on Xbox One. After making waves on PC, hype surrounding the console release has skyrocketed. Players fight to the death with the aim to be the last man standing. Xbox One has console exclusivity (for now). $29.99

Custom Gaming Controller

The controllers that come with the PS4 and Xbox One might be good enough for the majority of players, but there’s certainly room for improvement. In come custom gaming controller solutions like the SCUF Infinity and SCUF Impact. The main attraction here is paddles (pictured above), which add buttons to the rear of the gamepad. $129.95
