Comic-Con 2017 | Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’ Assemble in New Trailer

Netflix may not have the Avengers, but it does have the very best heroes that Marvel TV has to offer! From the beginning of Marvel’s original five series deal with Netflix, the goal was to establish Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist with their own shows before bringing them together as a team in The Defenders. Next month, it’s finally going to happen, and fans at San Diego Comic-Con got the first chance to see a new trailer.

During The Defenders panel, Marvel dropped the new footage, which features Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra as she educates Elektra about her plans to take control of New York for herself while severing Elektra’s emotional ties to her previous life. One of the most interesting aspects of the trailer is that the makeshift team apparently had to flee for their lives before seeking shelter in a Chinese restaurant. And most of the team doesn’t even want to be together, but it will be up to them to save the city.

The trailer also reveals an unsettling sequence in which Iron Fist is attacked by his the board of his own company, while the innocent people who know and love the other Defenders find themselves targeted by the Hand. Even Stick doesn’t seem to be able to escape the reach of Alexandra, as she already appears to be in reach of her goals.

Netflix will premiere the eight-episode season of The Defenders on Friday, August 18.
