“Law & Order” and “Cagney & Lacey” Star Harvey Atkin Dead At 74
Beloved Canadian actor Harvey Atkin died of cancer on Monday, his agent confirmed. He was 74 years old.
“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved friend, husband, father and grandfather, Harvey, passed away peacefully last night following his battle with cancer,” his agent Larry Goldhar said in a statement (The Hollywood Reporter).
Atkin first hit people’s radars when he appeared opposite Bill Murray and Kate Lynch in the flick Meatballs. He went on to act in such TV series as Cagney & Lacey in the 1980s and do voiceover work on animated shows like Jacob Two-Two, Scaredy Squirrel and a number of Super Mario Bros. series, along with a number of commercials. His most recent gig was in the film A Change Of Heart, which was screened this year at the Miami Film Festival, and he’ll appear in the movie Progress (and Unrelated Things), which will come out later this year.
He is survived by his wife, two children and five grandchildren.
