Haunting. Surreal. Cobainish. All words I would use to describe this incredibly captivating footage of Nirvana below.

Well, at least what you see here is what would soon become Nirvana … inside a Radio Shack … in 1988.

According to the uploader, Mike Ziegler, this video was actually an attempt to record a music video for Ted Ed Fred, the band featuring Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic (future Nirvana), along with Dal Crover (future Melvins) on drums. The footage has allegedly never been seen publicly until now.

Let’s go back in time to Aberdeen, Washington – January 23, 1988!

Cobain was almost 21-years-old in this video.

So, see, kids. It’s okay to not know what you’re doing with your life well into your 20s. Nirvana was scraping by in a Radio Shack and they made it. So keep at it and you might just do the same.

Ziegler has been archiving tons of Nirvana footage over the last several days. Here’s his channel if you want to see more.
