The Latest ‘Wonder Woman’ Trailer Promises Wonders

Wonder Woman is, after 75 years of reigning supreme in the comic books, finally coming to the big screen in three weeks. And it seems that we’re finally starting to see a big marketing push for the superhero saga, starring Gal Gadot as an Amazon princess who saves the world in World War I.

First there was the encouraging, bullet-blocking clip released late last week, and now we have this new, thrilling trailer that gives us genuine hope that the movie might – just might – have been worth the wait. In some respects it’s standard trailer stuff, introducing the characters and the elements of the plot, but the footage looks dynamic, the characters seem distinct and entertaining, and the action looks kinda wondrous so far.

Warner Bros. needs Wonder Woman to be a hit because, even though Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad made money, they weren’t nearly as beloved as many of their superhero movie contemporaries. Audiences ran pretty hot and cold on both films, and a movie that the majority of fans can rally behind – whether or not it breaks box office records – is probably what matters most to the studio right now. If Wonder Woman is awful, or even if it’s just a mixed bag, then enthusiasm will wane even harder for their ambitious Justice League film that comes out in November, and a lot of their future superhero movies might seem like iffy propositions too.

We’ll see if Wonder Woman lives up to the promise of this trailer when it comes out on June 2, 2017. All the world is waiting for you and the power you possess, Diana!
