Google Launching ‘Youtube TV’ Gives Another Reason For Sports Fans To Cut Cords

It was over a decade ago when my broadcast professors told me that television and internet would all be one, and it would happen soon. While it’s taken longer than expected, the invention of Sling TV certainly changed my sports-driven life. Now that Google has announced ‘Youtube TV,’ the operation sounds like an even larger game changer.

The streaming service will reportedly be rolled out “soon” in the largest U.S. markets before hoping to expand across the country. It will provide cloud DVR, local ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX affiliates and dozens of other networks including: ESPN, Fox (regional and FS1, FS2) ESPN (and ESPN 2, 3, News, U), Comcast Sports Net,  even college networks such as SEC Network and the Big Ten Network. So most NFL, college football, soccer and NASCAR is covered.

The service hopes to cater to the “YouTube generation — those who want to watch what they want, when they want, how they want, without commitments.” — well except for the $35 a month, which is slightly more than Sling TV but a hell of a lot less than cable.

YouTube TV includes major sports networks like ESPN and regional sports networks like Fox Sports Networks and Comcast SportsNet, so you can watch your favorite NBA or MLB teams. We’ve also partnered with local TV stations, so you’ll also get sports and local news based on where you live.

Each membership also comes with six accounts sooooo….. free games, fam?!

Here’s a list of all the included networks.

So far the only major downfall — and it’s a big one for me — is the fact that AMC isn’t yet included, meaning no Walking Dead.

Although I also wish it had MLB Network and Turner Networks (for NBA and March Madness) – but hey, it’s not a perfect world.

You can learn more and get on the early-list of possible members here.
