CraveTV’s Exclusive Drama Series Deutschland 83 Wins International Emmy

The gripping cold war drama Deutschland 83, streaming exclusively on CraveTV in Canada, won the prestigious International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series at a gala that was held recently in New York City.

The series, streaming in the Dramas, Historic TV, and Action & Adventure Collections, was recently renewed for a second season. The eight-part, one-hour series is a  coming-of-age espionage thriller set against the real culture wars and political events of Germany in the 1980s. Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay) is recruited by the HVA to infiltrate the West Germany army. As a rookie spy, his decisions constantly put his cover at risk and force his agency to take extreme measures.

The series is written and created by American journalist and author Anna Winger (This Must Be the Place) alongside her husband Joerg Winger, a successful German showrunner (SOKO LEIPZIG), who serves as executive producer. Deutschland 83 is executive produced by Nico Hofmann and directed by Edward Berger and Samira Radsi. The series is a UFA Fiction production for RTL Television in Germany, and distributed by Fremantle Media International. The series had its exclusive world premiere during the inaugural Berlinale Special Series at the 65th Berlinale International Film Festival.
