The Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer is Here and It’s Underwhelming

Rockstar has just dropped the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, and after years of waiting for our first glimpse at the company’s long-awaited follow-up to the developer’s 2010 Spaghetti Western classic, it’s… underwhelming.

Clocking in at one-minute long, the RDR2 trailer is really more of a teaser, showing us very little of the upcoming game. Though there’s still plenty of time for Rockstar to hit us with lengthier trailers and gameplay footage, there’s really not a lot that can be taken away from this short clip, aside from it looking very pretty. There are cowboys, there are wild animals and there are guns. It’s what we expected.

The trailer features a voice over from an unnamed man, telling us that “when the time comes, you gotta run and don’t look back.” The character isn’t the original Red Dead Redemption‘s protagonist John Marston, despite him being heavily tipped to make an appearance in the sequel.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released in the Fall 2017, with it set to include an online multiplayer component similar to Grand Theft Auto V‘s GTA Online mode. The official Rockstar site brands the sequel a “tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland.” Watch the trailer below:
