Red Dead Redemption 2 Finally Gets Release Date

It’s been eight years since Rockstar Games delivered the critically adored and fan-acclaimed open-world Western adventure Red Dead Redemption, and fans have been anxiously awaiting a follow-up from the New York-based developer. After years of teasing players with whether or not they would develop another game, Rockstar finally announced back in October 2016 that they had a prequel to Redemption in development set for release in the second half of 2017, but was delayed to an unknown release date sometime in the first two quarters of this year.

Fans can rejoice, however, as Rockstar recently announced the game is ready to go and will be hitting shelves worldwide on Oct. 26 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In the game, players will take control of outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang, in an “epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland,” according to the game’s official site. The game will also use its large and in-depth world to feature a new multiplayer experience unlike the one we experienced in the first game.

In the official release announcement, Rockstar also apologized for the delays in the release for the game, saying that they “hoped to have the game out sooner,” but that they needed “a little extra time for polish.” The developers also state that they believe players will agree with them that “the wait will have been worth it.” With not a whole lot known about the plot just yet, aside from the lead character, fans will certainly need to keep their eyes open for more information in “the coming weeks.”
