‘Black Mirror’ Season 3 Trailer is Here to Make Us Feel Bad

Black Mirror has an incomparable knack of making us feel bad about where western society as a whole is headed, offering glimpses into a technology-driven future that don’t look too disparate from the direction we may be headed. In fact, such is Charlie Brooker’s ability to encapsulate the anxiety of life in the information age that one of the show’s most famous episodes boasted a plot that almost came true, when it was claimed that former UK Prime Minister David Cameron may have simulated oral sex with the head of a pig – a story which wasn’t too far from the plot of the season one episode ‘The National Anthem’.

Black Mirror season 3 looks like it’ll be making us feel awful all over again, with Netflix releasing the trailer for the upcoming six-episode anthology series, which will air exclusively on the streaming service. Among the episodes there will be a storyline focusing upon a popularity app that ranks all human interactions, with Bryce Dallas Howard starring as a woman who seems to be incredibly emotionally invested in the rating given to her by her peers, a tale featuring soldiers recovering from the horrors of war, and a man playing whack-a-mole with an artificially intelligent cartoon chipmunk.

Alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, more star power has been added to the show this time around with the likes of Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mackenzie Davis, Jerome Flynn, Kelly McDonald all set to feature in the upcoming episodes. Rashida Jones has also co-written an episode, while Oscar nominee Joe Wright and 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s  Dan Trachtenberg will direct two episodes.

Black Mirror season 3 will air exclusively on Netflix on October 21. You can watch the trailer below:
