‘Aliens’ is 30! Submit Your Questions for the Live Q&A

On July 18th, 1986 – 30 years ago last week – James Cameron’s Aliens was released into theaters. It was an enormous hit, was nominated for Oscars, and defined the Alien movies forever (let’s face it: When people say that that like the Alien series, they really mean that they like Aliens).

Aliens has become, in the ensuing years, one of the tentpoles of geek culture, and is often hailed as one of the best action movies of all time. For its 30th anniversary, it will be getting a super-nifty Blu-ray release, natch (incidentally, available for purchase on September 13th).

But, more impressively, this year’s International Comic-Con in San Diego will be hosting a special birthday celebration, and they are asking you, the fans, to submit questions. If you have a question you’d like to ask the cast or the crew of Aliens (and who doesn’t, really?), 20th Century Fox has asked that you watch the promotional YouTube video, then leave your question in the comments field. Then you may watch the live stream of the panel on Saturday July 23rd, on ComingSoon

The comments fields on YouTube videos are typically pretty dangerous places to trudge through. It was there that the sexist “controversy” about the new Ghostbusters film began. 20th Century Fox, by opening up a discourse, is perhaps inviting a more civilized use of a comments field. If there’s one thing most people can agree on, it’s James Cameron’s Aliens, so perhaps this will be the first step in a peaceful, non-rage-fueled YouTube.
