‘Game of Thrones’ Leads The 2016 Emmy Nominations

Last year, Game of Thrones stunned industry observers by taking home the top prize for Outstanding TV drama at the Emmy Awards. This year, Game of Thrones is coming back to the Emmy Awards after one of its strongest seasons to date with 23 nominations!

Via Deadline, the Television Academy has released all of this year’s Emmy nominations, with GoT once again up for best drama. In the acting categories, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, and Maisie Williams have all been nominated as best supporting actress in a drama, while Kit Harington will challenge two-time winner, Peter Dinklage in supporting actor category.

Critical favorites The Americans and Mr. Robot will also compete for best drama this year, opposite GoT, Homeland, House of Cards, Downton Abbey, and Better Call Saul. Mr. Robot star Rami Malek and The Americans‘ Matthew Rhys were also nominated for best actor in a drama opposite Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards). The award for best actress in a drama series will go to one of these women: Claire Danes (Homeland), Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Taraji P Henson (Empire),
Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Keri Russell (The Americans), and Robin Wright (House of Cards).
