Kim Kardashian talks about working with Jonathan Van Meter on ‘Citizen Kim’ biography
On Nov. 5, Kardashian appeared on The View alongside Whoopi Goldberg, where she discussed various aspects of her personal and professional life. During the conversation, she opened up about her recently released biography, Citizen Kim, and explained how she began working with Jonathan Van Meter.
Kardashian revealed that Anna Wintour introduced her to Van Meter. “He wrote my Vogue cover and is a brilliant writer. Anna Wintour introduced us and thought it would be a good match,” she said.
She also explained why she gave the author access to her personal life. Kardashian wanted to share details about her childhood and experiences that fans might not know. However, she wanted Van Meter to tell the story from his own perspective rather than write the book herself.
Kardashian further explained that she never planned to write a book about herself. “I wanted him to have that. It wasn’t something that I, you know, thought I wanted to do, write a book. So, why not have some information out there that’s pretty accurate?” she said.
During the discussion, one of the panelists remarked, “And own that narrative.” Kardashian agreed with a simple “Yeah,” expressing her desire to share accurate information about her life while allowing Van Meter to tell the story.
Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future marks Kardashian’s first authorized biography. However, several authors have written books about her and her family over the years. American journalist Jonathan Van Meter wrote the biography, which came out on Oct. 27, 2026.
The book explores Kardashian’s rise to fame, career and personal experiences. Through her collaboration with Van Meter, Kardashian hopes to give readers a closer look at the person behind her public image.
