Queen Elizabeth’s Grandson’s Wife Spills Unusual Royal Wedding Details

Peter Phillips’ wife Harriet Phillips offered a rare glimpse into their royal wedding, five months after they exchanged vows. The former NHS specialist nurse also shared how their romance began, with their daughters’ hockey games providing the starting point.

Harriet, 46, married Peter, 48, on June 6 at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire. Their private Cotswolds ceremony welcomed royals, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Harriet Phillips reveals how her romance with Peter began

In her first interview since marrying Queen Elizabeth’s grandson, Harriet told Hello! Magazine the day still felt surreal. “It’s emotional looking back at it,” she said. “When you’re in it, it feels like you’re in a dream, and when you look back, you think: ‘Was that really me?’ It was a slice of heaven.”

Harriet wore a floor-length Emilia Wickstead gown, Jimmy Choo heels, and Pragnell jewelry. Guests included Prince Edward and Sophie, Peter’s sister Zara Tindall and husband Mike, Princess Anne, and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

The reception swapped a cake for a giant tiramisu. Guests also enjoyed countryside lamb from Gatcombe, Hello! reported.

Both newlyweds brought daughters from previous marriages. Peter shares Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, with former wife Autumn Kelly. They married in 2008 and divorced in 2021. Harriet shares 14-year-old Georgina with former husband Antonio St. John Sperling, a fitness instructor.

Harriet said hockey brought them together as they watched their daughters play. “Peter was the brave one in recognizing that there was something between us and acting on it,” she told the magazine. She called him “very romantic, loving, kind, loyal, amazing and my best friend.”

Rumors surfaced after they attended the Badminton Horse Trials in May 2024. Their outings included Royal Ascot, and they announced their engagement in August 2025. A statement identified Harriet as the daughter of the late Rupert Sanders and Mary Sanders, of Gloucestershire. It said both families and senior royals welcomed the engagement news.

Harriet joined senior royals at Sandringham that December. The couple kept their wedding date and venue private until April 2026.
