The Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard flirting admission quickly drew attention because Bell views the behavior very differently from how some partners might interpret it.

Kristen Bell shares unusual way Dax Shepard flirts with her in new interview

Bell discussed their relationship during an appearance on Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. She joined her Nobody Wants This costars Adam Brody, Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons for the conversation. Bell has also previously opened up about her sex life with Dax Shepard, making the couple’s candid approach to discussing their marriage familiar to fans.

The discussion turned to compliments and attraction when Bell explained one of Shepard’s habits.

She said that when the couple goes out for dinner, Shepard sometimes compliments a waiter or waitress on a particular feature. He might point out someone’s eyelashes, eyes, eyebrows or cheekbones.

However, Bell does not interpret those remarks as Shepard flirting with the other person.

“That’s flirting with me because he just made someone else feel good,” she explained.

Bell said Shepard will probably never interact with the person again. For her, the attraction comes from watching her husband notice something positive about another person and make them feel good about themselves.

She also stressed that Shepard has never made a compliment that felt inappropriate or crossed a boundary.

Shepard joked that there are still certain features he would avoid commenting on because they could make the interaction feel more suggestive.

Bell recalled another example involving her friend Heather. Shepard noticed her eyebrows and immediately complimented them. Bell said the gesture appealed to her because he noticed something others may have seen but never mentioned.

“That’s why it makes me fluttery inside,” Bell said.

Bell and Shepard have been together since 2007 and married in 2013. They share two daughters, Lincoln and Delta.

The couple has frequently spoken openly about their marriage, including therapy, parenting and their unconventional views on relationships. Bell’s latest admission offered another glimpse into the unusual gestures that work for them, even if their approach to flirting may surprise others.
