Abby Lee Miller claims American Airlines mishandled her wheelchair and left her struggling to get home
During an interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real on Wednesday, Miller shared her latest complaint. The 61-year-old said the airline returned her wheelchair damaged at around 2 a.m. She explained that she had been busy and had not yet fully addressed the situation. Nevertheless, she had a message for the company: “American Airlines, do better!”
Miller said the damage left her unsure how she would manage the trip home. “How do you think I was even going to get out?” she asked. She added that she had to rely on a push chair to get home, calling the experience “awful, awful, absolutely awful.” Her account raised concerns about how the airline handled her wheelchair.
Miller previously spoke out about another problem involving American Airlines. In 2019, she said she fell from her wheelchair during a transfer at Pittsburgh International Airport.
She described the incident in an Instagram post, joking, “Help! ‘I’ve fallen and I can’t get up’ isn’t that the truth?” She also thanked the airport escorts and firefighters who helped her get back into her seat.
Miller later shared more details about the injuries she experienced after the fall. In the comments under her post, she said she felt “stiff” and had body aches. She reported that her right hip and knee were banged up and her right shoulder felt sore.
Her latest complaint has brought renewed attention to her experiences with the airline and her call for better handling of passengers who rely on mobility equipment.
