Harry Styles’ New York visit took an uncomfortable turn when a persistent autograph hunter approached him. The two were filmed in a heated exchange over Styles’ autograph, with the singer pointing at the man as they argued.

According to The Sun, footage showed Styles trying to keep a low profile in a hood, hat and sunglasses when the encounter took place. As Styles became increasingly agitated, a third person stepped between them to de-escalate the situation. Styles walked away from the scene, but the man continued to follow him.
A source told The Sun, “This wasn’t a fan, it’s a persistent autograph hunter who has approached him before in the street.” Another source defended Styles’ usual approach to admirers, telling the newspaper: “Harry is always respectful to fans who approach him in public. Some people take things too far though.”
Styles recently attended a New York Knicks game, where he stopped to sign an autograph for a fan. He is also performing a 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden. The singer paid a tribute to former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne during a concert on October 16. Payne died aged 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina in 2024.
Addressing the audience, Styles said: “There are so many people in my life, friends and people that I’ve worked with that I wouldn’t have been able to do this without. And two years ago today, I lost one of those friends.”
He continued: “But really, it’s just about looking after each other. So many people who have touched my life in such special ways. I wouldn’t be here without them.” Styles then introduced a song he had written for Payne.
