Liev Schreiber lashed out over a brief interview prompt at the Nocturne premiere
Schreiber attended the Apple TV+ show’s premiere in New York City on Tuesday night. During the red carpet interview, a reporter asked him a question that appeared to upset him. In a video of the exchange, Schreiber seemed frustrated with what he viewed as an effort to chase social media attention. He advised the reporter to treat people with respect like she respected their work.
The actor also voiced objection to the idea of turning the conversation into a quick clip for online engagement. He said it should not become a “fing soundbite,” especially when the interview was happening “in-house.” His comments suggested that he wanted a more thoughtful conversation about the project. This conversation became tense when he made clear his concerns.
The reporter stayed calm throughout the awkward moment. She was smiling, trying to make jokes and moving the interview forward. She eventually brought up a subject that seemed to satisfy Schreiber, allowing the conversation to continue. The pair appeared to get past the disagreement and finish the interview.
Witnesses told TMZ that Schreiber felt strongly about Nocturne and disliked the questions the correspondent had asked. They also said the encounter ended on friendly terms, with everyone leaving happy. The moment therefore appeared to be a disagreement about the interview rather than a lasting conflict. Nevertheless, the exchange on the red carpet was the highlight of the evening due to Schreiber’s quick-witted comeback.
