Berry’s ex-husband, whom she was married to from 2013 to 2015, alleged that she physically abused their 13-year-old son, Maceo, during an incident on September 26. Martinez claimed that Berry became upset with their son while he was playing a virtual reality game. He alleged that she then put their son in a headlock and choked him during the incident.

Nahla, whom Berry shares with her ex, Gabriel Aubry, has now responded to the allegations in a sworn court statement filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court on October 5, Us Weekly reported. She said, “In all my years living with my mom, I have never witnessed her act violently toward anyone … I have also never seen my mom throw anything at anyone, not a knife, or plate, or any other object. I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way.”

She further stated, “I have seen my mom and Maceo playfully wrestle, tickle each other, and roll around laughing on the floor or on a bed many times. I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her. I have never seen Maceo hurt, upset, cry or do anything but laugh after his and my mom’s playful wrestling.”

Aubry praised Berry as a loving and devoted mother. She acknowledged that Berry can be strict when necessary and expects her children to follow rules. However, she said Berry is also warm, supportive, and actively involved in their lives.
