Nathan Fielder says meeting Elizabeth Holmes was a “really disorienting experience” he still struggles to understand

A24 held a screening of the Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything, where Nathan Fielder shared his experience of meeting Holmes. He described the experience as disorienting.

Fielder said, “I still am not sure to this day what I experienced. Maybe it being out there, everyone can help me understand what I went through a little bit. What we all went through.”

Fielder and Oppenheim sat for an interview with Bill Hader at the screening, where they discussed their interest in magic tricks. Fielder invited Oppenheim on stage to discuss a visit to Hollywood magicians’ venue The Magic Castle. One of the performers at the event asked the audience to give a name to the show, and someone shouted, “Elizabeth Holmes!”

The mention prompted Oppenheim to recall when Billy Evans approached A24 about the documentary. He said, “First off, why A24?” Fielder explained why he was interested in the documentary, saying, “Secondly, she hadn’t been on camera in many, many years. I thought there could be something interesting about that. She hadn’t talked to anyone. She hadn’t done any press or anything in, I think, seven or eight years at the time.”

As per The Wrap, Oppenheim initially approached Fielder after watching his documentary Some Kind of Haven. The two went to A24 after learning that Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, had approached the studio.

Fielder recalled meeting Elizabeth Holmes, saying, “It was a really disorienting experience, talking to someone like that, when they seem so sincere.”

Elizabeth Holmes founded the failed blood-testing startup Theranos. She was convicted of defrauding investors and sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison. Ahead of the release, she recently shared a cryptic message about the documentary. The documentary about her is set to release on October 16, 2026.
