Jeremy Allen White Reveals His Biggest Worry as a Dad

Jeremy Allen White reflected on an important lesson he learned as a father while filming The Social Reckoning, in which he plays real-life investigative reporter Jeff Horwitz. The 35-year-old actor said he was “very lucky” to have grown up before social media became so prevalent. He shares two daughters, Ezer Billie and Dolores Wild, with his ex-wife Addison Timlin.

Jeremy Allen White says kids should keep their worlds “as small as possible” amid his concerns about social media

Speaking to E! News at the New York City premiere of The Social Reckoning on October 4, White discussed why he believes children should keep their worlds “as small as possible.” The actor said, “I worry about young people, children. It’s hard enough growing up and comparing yourself to all of your classmates, your school, and your community. I can’t imagine what it’s like to grow up comparing yourself to the world.”

He further stated, “I think kids need to keep their worlds as small as possible for as long as possible. Uh, and I think it’s hard with all this stuff and with kids being introduced earlier and earlier to it.”

Written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, The Social Reckoning explores the darker side of Facebook and modern social media, focusing on how these platforms can fuel outrage, division, and misinformation. The film, which hits theaters on October 9, dramatizes Frances Haugen’s 2021 leak of internal Facebook documents. Mikey Madison plays Haugen, with Jeremy Strong portraying Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The film is a sequel to the 2010 film The Social Network, which earned $226 million globally. Sorkin took on writing and directing duties and co-produced the project with Todd Black and Stuart M. Besser. The film earned eight Oscar nominations, including a nod for Best Picture, and took home three awards. Sorkin won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
