Ariana Madix Takes a Wild Sci-Fi Turn With ‘Future Housewives’

Ariana Madix has lined up a new television project that would take her from reality TV into scripted science fiction.

The Love Island USA host is set to star in Future Housewives, a sci-fi series in development at Peacock. Madix is also joining the project as an executive producer through her Over Fences banner.

Brannon Braga created Future Housewives, which combines a futuristic setting with elements inspired by reality television. Braga previously worked on projects including Star Trek: Voyager, The Orville, and Flashforward.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the story centers on New Beverly Hills, an affluent colony located on an asteroid. Its wealthy residents deal with rivalries, scandals, and beauty treatments shaped by advanced technology.

Ariana Madix is set to play an outsider who enters that world and disrupts the lives of its socialites. The series plans to use that premise to examine a society moving beyond its focus on appearances.

Madix also takes on an executive producer role alongside Braga. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins serve as executive producers for Fuzzy Door Productions. Jaron Lanier joins as a co-executive producer.

Rachel Hargreaves-Heald and Emily Kochman oversee the project for Fuzzy Door, while Universal Global Television serves as the studio.

The project adds another scripted credit to Madix’s career after her work in reality television and hosting. She has appeared on Broadway in Chicago and Just in Time. She has also made guest appearances on NBC’s St. Denis Medical and ABC’s Will Trent. Madix played herself in the latter.

Before and during her earlier years on Vanderpump Rules, she also appeared in several CollegeHumor and Dropout sketches.

Madix continues her television work as the Emmy-nominated host of Love Island USA while taking on Future Housewives. The Peacock project would take her into a science-fiction setting while also drawing on themes connected to the reality-TV world.
