Tom Cruise recalls Princess Diana bringing Prince William to the Mission: Impossible set
Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Cruise confirmed that Princess Diana and Prince William had visited the set of the first Mission: Impossible film.
“Yes … I guess he spoke of it so it’s fine, I’m always very private about people … it was beautiful … it was Mission Impossible, the first Mission Impossible,” Cruise said.
“Man, was she lovely, and he was just absolutely lovely. Very kind to everyone, and just a kid. Mannerly and fun … Fun, same person, same guy,” the Top Gun star continued.
Cruise recently reunited with Prince William and Princess Kate at the world premiere of his film Digger in London on Sept. 22.
“They were laughing … very gracious, loved the film, it was beautiful for them to be there, they’re such an elegant, charismatic couple,” Cruise said. He also spoke fondly about spending time with them during the screening.
“As I said, William chose well, she’s beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,” he added. Cruise continued, “What they do for their country and the world is … lovely,” describing the couple as “so down to earth.”
Cruise had previously arranged an advance screening of Top Gun: Maverick for William and Kate before its 2022 U.K. premiere after learning that William was a fan of the original film.
At the U.K. premiere, Cruise said of William, “We have a lot in common. We both love England, and we’re both aviators; we both love flying.”
Cruise’s connections with the British royal family stretch back decades. He and his then-wife Nicole Kidman met Princess Diana at the London premiere of Far and Away in 1992.
