Michael Jackson’s Estate Clashes With Paris Over $1.1M Legal Bill

Michael Jackson‘s estate is disputing Paris Jackson‘s request for more than $1.1 million in legal costs. The estate has filed a request to reduce the legal fees she is seeking for her involvement in the matter.

Michael Jackson’s estate has requested court permission to pay $9 million to various lawyers for their services over six years. Separately, the estate is disputing Paris Jackson’s request for $1,165,481.90 in legal fees.

According to TMZ, a representative for Michael Jackson’s estate said the estate has grown into a $2 billion conglomerate. The filing credits the lawyers with helping the estate reach that milestone.

Michael Jackson reportedly had $500 million in debt and recurring interest, which the estate has since paid off.

The executor added that the $9 million legal bill covers six years of services. These include tax planning, legal matters, trademarks, business deals and other issues handled by the estate. The estate is seeking court permission to pay those fees.

Michael Jackson’s executor, John Branca, filed an objection in court on Monday challenging the amount of Paris Jackson’s requested legal costs.

Branca acknowledged that Paris helped the estate recover $625,000 in bonuses paid to attorneys, but he disputed the additional amount she is seeking.

However, Branca argued that Paris should receive compensation only for the disputes she won and the benefits she secured for the estate’s beneficiaries. According to the executor, the additional legal costs go beyond what she is entitled to receive.

The judge has yet to rule on the estate’s filing. The new dispute comes as Michael Jackson’s estate continues to navigate legal and financial matters. Michael Jackson died in 2009, and the estate has managed his financial affairs since then.

While the estate is now reportedly valued at more than $2 billion, the pop star had more than $500 million in debt at the time of his death.

Paris Jackson has not publicly commented on the new filing.
