Julianne Hough tells DWTS viewers ABC’s online voting system is down during the live premiere
Dancing with the Stars Season 35 hit a snag after ABC’s online voting system went down. Julianne Hough informed viewers about the issue during the live premiere.
Twenty-six minutes into the premiere, Hough announced, “A quick update for everyone who is voting at home. This is coming through live right now: Voting on ABC.com is currently down live. So please make sure that you guys are texting for everyone. We will keep you posted as the night goes on.”
Before the announcement, Tyler Cameron and pro Sharna Burgess had already performed. Hough later acknowledged the technical issue for viewers.
According to Ok! Magazine, co-host Alfonso Ribeiro later shared that the show was “still having online voting issues” and encouraged fans to vote by text.
He said, “For tonight and tonight only, we are throwing out online votes. So text only tonight.”
Hough added, “Did we break it with the voting? This is kind of rad!” Ribeiro responded, “We’re breaking stuff around here.”
While the show went on to broadcast the other performances live, fans shared their disappointment online.
One X user said, “@officialdwts @ABCNetwork y’all better fix the online voting for next week. I’m livid that the online votes I submitted for @HarryShumJr doesn’t count now.”
Another user commented, “Online votes not counting tf are Canadians supposed to do #dwts.”
One user said, “That’s actually messed up that the site is down. That could ruin votes for some of those celebs. #dwts35 #Brittany.”
Despite the voting issue, the night ended with an elimination. Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro star Adele Zaikman and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Connor Leavitt were at the bottom and eventually eliminated.
