The reporters traveling with Trump on a 48-hour trip got a surprise message from the president.
Washington correspondent Connor Stringer and Reuters White House correspondent Bo Erickson shared the incident on separate X posts. During the flight, two officials came to the press cabin with a “Message from the president – did we want to listen to his playlist while he worked?”
Reporters agreed to play the “Approved Rally Playlist.” Bluetooth speakers were brought to the cabin, and the playlist started. Trump’s approved music included “Jolene” by Dolly Parton, The Undertaker’s WWE entrance music, “Baba O’Riley” by The Who, “Nessun Dorma” by Luciano Pavarotti, and “Fernando” by ABBA.
According to USA Today, Trump shared his playlist while returning from attending the Irish Open golf tournament at his family’s course in Doonbeg. He met Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin. After the meeting, the president announced the removal of tariffs on Irish whiskey.
Later, Trump entered the cabin to get feedback on his playlist. White House’s official Rapid Response account on X shared a video of the incident. Trump said, “I just wanted to make sure everyone is OK with the music. I want to make you all happy, so I’m playing wonderful music. Happy music. I love music. I love good music. That’s what keeps me happy. Because with my life … it’s a very interesting thing, but I love music.”
His playlist included several tracks by late singer Dolly Parton. While talking about her, Trump said, “Dolly was the greatest, wasn’t she? That was a sad moment when Dolly left us.”
The recent interaction gave reporters a memorable moment and offered a glimpse into Trump’s interest in music.
