James McAvoy Reacts as New ‘X-Men’ Cast Takes Over

James McAvoy has shared his support for the cast of Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot. The actor played Charles Xavier in Fox’s earlier X-Men movies. He gave the new cast and Christopher Abbott a few words of encouragement. His comments came during a visit to Entertainment Weekly’s studio at the Toronto International Film Festival.

James McAvoy wishes Christopher Abbott and the new ‘X-Men’ cast ‘good luck’

Entertainment Weekly reported that McAvoy discussed the new movie during his studio visit on Friday. He told Abbott and the cast, “Good luck to him! Good luck, good luck, good luck.” McAvoy added, “I just wish them well and good luck.” He also stated that Marvel has a massive publicity campaign to promote their film.

“I’m here to sell a different film,” McAvoy said. He said that Marvel has “a huge publicity machine” and can sell the movie itself. Still, he ended with another message for the cast. “But massive good luck to them!” he said.

McAvoy first played Charles Xavier when Fox restarted the X-Men franchise with X-Men: First Class in 2011. He made a comeback in X-Men Days of Future Past and X-Men Apocalypse. Marvel unveiled its new X-Men cast at Disney’s D23 fan convention last month. Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, while Abbott will join Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm and Kit Connor as Cyclops/Scott Summers. The movie will hit theaters on May 5, 2028.

McAvoy’s warm wishes show that he still has plenty of support for the X-Men franchise. While the new cast prepares to bring the iconic heroes to the big screen, the former Charles Xavier star is cheering them on. For now, fans can look forward to seeing a new generation of mutants bring the beloved team to the big screen.
