Donald Trump Jr. found himself facing critics online after paying tribute to Charlie Kirk on the anniversary of his death. The right-wing activist was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at a campus event at Utah Valley University in Utah.
Donald Trump Jr. remembers Charlie Kirk with photos from past events
Trump Jr. remembered Charlie Kirk on September 10 by posting a series of photos of the two together on X. One photo showed him posing with Vice President J.D. Vance, Kirk, and Kid Rock at an event. A second photo showed Don Jr. standing next to Kirk in the snow. He paid tribute to his late friend with the caption, “Miss you so much buddy!!!”
In another post that same day, he honored Kirk by referring to him as a “little brother.” He wrote, “Charlie was never a threat to anyone. He was civil, he was kind, he listened and responded with respect. The only “threat” he ever posed was that he was incredibly effective. He was a powerful messenger of truth, and people heard that truth. That’s what made him a target.”
Rather than support, Don Jr. received criticism from commenters who accused him and his father of turning their backs on Kirk. One of the netizens wrote, “Truly disgusting how you guys have betrayed Charlie. Your dad wouldn’t [have] won without Charlie and Tucker (Carlson). The next day, when Trump is asked about Charlie, Trump says, ‘look at my big beautiful ballroom.’ Disgusting.” Another commented, “Such BETRAYAL! Your Father couldn’t even mutter 2 words of kindness for Charlie!”
Kirk was a well-known conservative activist and close ally of President Donald Trump. Tyler Robinson has been accused of fatally shooting the right-wing activist who criticized the LGBTQ+ community. The 23-year-old faces several charges, including aggravated murder. Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted. He has not yet entered a plea in the case.
