Carole Radziwill Reveals ‘Curse’ Behind Kim Kardashian’s $379K Watch

Carole Radziwill revealed why she once worried that a Cartier watch connected to Jackie Kennedy could bring a supposed family “curse” back into her life after Kim Kardashian bought it at auction.

The former Real Housewives of New York star inherited the historic watch from her late husband, Anthony Radziwill, on her 30th birthday. Years later, she decided to sell it because she associated the piece with a striking pattern of loss.

Carole worries Jackie Kennedy’s watch could bring its supposed curse back after Kim K bought it

Carole discussed the Kim Kardashian Jackie Kennedy watch during the September 10 episode of the Financial Tea podcast.

“I did inherit Jackie’s Cartier watch,” she said. “I ended up selling it at auction.”

Prince Stanislaw Albrecht Radziwill, who married Jackie’s sister Lee, originally gave the watch to the former first lady.

Carole later noticed that Jackie, herself and one of her best friends had all been connected to the watch at different points in time. Each woman had also become a widow in her 30s.

“There was something about that watch that linked all of us,” Carole explained. “Jackie Kennedy in the ’60s, me in the ’90s and then my best friend in the 2010s. All three were widowed in their 30s.”

Carole’s husband died in 1999 following a battle with sarcoma.

She eventually decided to auction the Kim Kardashian Cartier watch through Christie’s in 2017. Carole hoped Cartier would purchase it and return the piece to its place of origin, which she believed could end its supposed curse.

Instead, Kardashian placed the winning bid at the last moment and reportedly paid $379,500.

“At the very last second of the auction, Kim Kardashian bought it,” Carole recalled.

That result concerned her because she and Kardashian shared mutual friends.

“I just thought it would boomerang back at me,” she said.

Kardashian later learned about the story surrounding the watch and reportedly asked not to have the original sent to her home. She ultimately never received it.

In February, Kardashian explained that she believed such a historically significant piece belonged with Cartier rather than an individual collector.

The original Jackie Kennedy watch eventually ended up in Cartier’s vault. Kardashian later appeared with a replica instead.
