Jennifer Aniston Tells Sandra Bullock They’ve ‘Shared a Boyfriend’

Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock are proving that a shared dating history can indeed lead to a long-lasting friendship.

The two discussed their past relationships with the same man while also talking about their careers.

Jennifer Aniston jokes about how she and Sandra Bullock both dated Tate Donovan years before becoming close friends

Speaking with Bullock for Interview Magazine, Aniston reflected on their dating history, including their relationships with Tate Donovan, whom both women dated.

“We’ve shared a boyfriend,” Aniston quipped. “That’s how much we love each other.”

Bullock quickly agreed, replying, “We do.”

The lively exchange referenced Tate Donovan, whom they both dated. Bullock dated Donovan from 1990 to 1994 after they met while filming Love Potion No. 9. Aniston dated him from 1995 to 1998, at the height of her Friends fame.

The interview mainly focused on Bullock’s return to the screen after four years with Practical Magic 2. Bullock revealed that the moment felt meaningful to her, especially since the original received heavy criticism after its release in 1998.

“When we made the first film, we were absolutely eviscerated,” Bullock said. “If you look at the reviews, they were scathing. ‘How many women do you need in a film? How many emotions need to be in a film?’”

The film’s later rise to cult status strengthened Bullock’s belief that there was more story left to tell. She also revealed that filming the sequel felt deeply personal because of her daughter, Laila.

“I wanted to give her a love letter of my sorrys,” she said. “If I failed, if I don’t know how to say the right thing, I apologize. I just want to do right by her, to help her be as brave as she already is, and that scares the shit out of me.”

Aniston also praised her friend’s talent and longevity in Hollywood. She told Bullock that there is “no Sandy Bullocks” and credited her talent for her enduring career.

Bullock returns to theaters in Practical Magic 2, while Aniston continues to star in and produce The Morning Show.
