Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are starting a new chapter in the country where their father grew up. They have spent most of their young lives in California and have now begun the new school year in the U.K. as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex settle their family back in Britain.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet start school in the UK as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle settle into their new chapter
Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, have started school in the U.K. this September, marking the first time both children will attend school in Britain. The family is keeping details about their new home and the children’s school private as they adjust to their new life.
For Harry and Meghan, settling their children has been the main priority following the move. A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that settling the children “has been, and remains, their focus. Everything else will fall into place when the time is right.”
According to the source, “There is a lot to do. They have just moved halfway across the world, and it’s been really busy getting the kids settled.” The source added, “Their focus has been on that, and will remain on that, for the time being. They are happy to be back.”
The move allows Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to experience the country where their father grew up. Archie was born in Britain in 2019 but moved to California with his parents the following year, while Lilibet was born in California in 2021.
Harry had reportedly been “thinking about” returning to Britain for some time, with a source saying the Duke wants his children “to understand the world he grew up in and where their family comes from.”
The family had already begun reconnecting with Britain over the summer, including a visit that saw Archie and Lilibet reunite with their grandfather, King Charles, for the first time in four years.
For Meghan, the move also means her children can experience both sides of their family background.
