Pink responds with Instagram Stories after backlash over asking Ed Sheeran to refund for concert
Macklemore opened for Ed Sheeran at two New Jersey shows on Sept. 4 and 5. He spoke in support of Palestine and performed his protest song “Hind’s Hall.” Pink then reshared a StopAntisemitism post that described the performance as “awful.” The post called for “apologies and refunds” for concertgoers, but Pink herself did not make any additional comment.
The StopAntisemitism post accused Macklemore of using “anti-Israel propaganda” at the shows. It also criticized his use of a keffiyeh and his “Free Palestine” message. Pink gave no extra comment with her repost. However, the share appeared to show support for the message and drew criticism online.
On Monday, Sept. 7, Pink shared 10 memes and quotes on her Instagram Stories. One read, “Being liked by everyone is a clown’s job,” while another said, “I’m not for everyone and honestly that has saved me a lot of time.” She also posted, “If they want to paint you as the villain, then pose,” and “Don’t let idiots ruin your day.” Other posts such as, “What do you mean?” Probably what I f–king said,” and “I’m very popular with people who have never met me.”
Pink also shared, “Not to brag or anything, but my posts are enjoyed by well over 4 or 5 people worldwide!” Another quote said, “If my honesty offends you, imagine how much I can’t stand your bulls–t.” She added, “I don’t just say wild things on social media. In real life, I say them with eye contact.” The posts appeared as Pink faced continued backlash over her decision to share the criticism of Macklemore.
