Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly had a surprisingly relatable favorite for a quiet night at home. The royal couple apparently enjoyed settling in together for a popular reality competition that had become a major U.K. television hit.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman revealed the detail while comparing William’s working style with that of his father, King Charles. His account offered a rare glimpse into how the Prince of Wales relaxed away from royal duties.

In his book “Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Her Story,” Hardman described William as less traditional than his father, though hardly radical. As per PEOPLE, he explained that Charles still enjoyed writing letters late into the night, while William preferred to “sit down with the Princess in front of The Traitors.”
The revelation came as little surprise given the show’s enormous popularity across Britain. The U.K. version followed secretive Traitors and Faithfuls as they tried to eliminate one another through a social deduction game.
Since premiering in 2022, The Traitors has become one of Britain’s most-watched game shows. The format originated with the Dutch series De Verraders and later expanded internationally. English presenter Claudia Winkleman hosted the British edition, which also spawned a celebrity version. Meanwhile, its U.S. counterpart brought the format across the Atlantic with Alan Cumming as host.
William had also offered unusually personal television moments in recent years. During an appearance on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler, he discussed his parents’ divorce and his children’s response to Kate’s cancer diagnosis.
While touring Windsor Castle with Levy, William also addressed Prince Harry and George’s eventual future as king. “Obviously, I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do,” he said. He added that he hoped William and Harry’s childhood experiences would not be repeated. “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good,” William said.
Meanwhile, family life was set to shift again as George prepared to begin Eton College in September. William and Kate had moved their family to Forest Lodge last fall, keeping their eldest son close to home. A source close to the family told PEOPLE earlier, “George has always wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps.”
