Allison Janney shared her views on marriage and kids, revealing that she once considered the idea. The actress reflected on her past relationships and said that she is relieved that motherhood never happened to her.
Allison says she expected to marry and considered motherhood
Allison Janney appeared on the Reclaiming With Monica Lewinsky podcast, where she opened up about her views on marriage and motherhood.
She said, “I always thought I would get married, just because at the time I was growing up, that’s what you did. That’s what my mom did, and I thought, well, I guess that’s what I’ll do.”
The actress also mentioned that after she went to New York, she had various boyfriends, but did not want to have kids. She also recalled her long-term relationship, saying, “One eight-year relationship and we didn’t want to have kids. Then we broke up, and then I had a 10-year relationship. And oh my gosh, we didn’t want to have kids either.”
Janney said she was relieved she didn’t have kids and added, “The way you feel in a relationship that you know is probably not the one, and you’re kind of in it. You don’t know how to get out of it. That’s the most lonely feeling in the world to be with someone and feel alone. Oh my God, that’s awful. So, it didn’t happen for me.”
She mentioned that she always knew she did not want kids. Despite this, in her 40s, she felt she should “just try” and visited doctors. Doctors shared that “odds are not in her favor” and asked about her “partner,” according to Page Six.
Janney reflected on her decision about marriage and kids, saying, “I’d love to eventually find someone to share my life with, but if it doesn’t happen, I’ll be just fine.” She added, “I would rather regret not having kids than have kids and regret that. I’m OK with it.”
The actress continues to embrace her decision and remain open to finding someone for her life.
