Celine Dion’s long-awaited comeback had friends worrying that the singer might be taking on too much too soon. After a three-year hiatus, the superstar faced 16 Paris concerts while continuing to manage stiff-person syndrome and the pressure of returning at full strength.
Dion planned five weeks of performances at Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, France, beginning September 12, with another 10 shows planned for May 2027.

Sources told RadarOnline that Dion felt extremely nervous about returning to the stage. One insider said the comeback carried enormous personal stakes for the singer.
“Celine has so much riding on this as far as her self-confidence and even her legacy,” the insider said. “It could be disastrous if it doesn’t go according to plan, because she’s a very sensitive person with extremely high expectations of herself.”
The source also said Dion’s friends worried about her demanding schedule.
“They’re worried that she’s trying to do too much, too soon,” the insider said.
Dion received her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in 2022. The incurable neurological disorder continued to cause severe muscle spasms and other symptoms, including frozen vocal cords, according to the report.
Still, Dion refused to let those challenges derail her comeback. The source said she had poured enormous effort into preparing for the Paris concerts while trying to manage her expectations.
“She’s throwing her heart and soul into this comeback and putting a huge amount of pressure on herself because she wants everything to be perfect,” the source said.
Her three sons also supported her throughout the preparation. René-Charles, 25, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 15, reportedly encouraged their mother as she prepared for the demanding run.
“They are cheering her on all the way,” the insider said, adding that Dion remained determined to stay positive despite the risks.
The Celine Dion comeback could also influence her next career move. She hoped the Paris concerts would help her return to Las Vegas for another residency.
Dion previously spent 16 years performing at Caesars Palace. Her Las Vegas run generated $681 million in ticket sales, making it the city’s highest-grossing show ever.
