Lily Allen’s New Zealand Comeback Hits an Unexpected Health Setback

Lily Allen has faced an unexpected health setback just as her New Zealand comeback was getting underway. The singer canceled her Auckland concert after falling ill shortly before she was due to perform. Allen apologized directly to fans and confirmed that ticket holders will receive refunds. The concert would have marked her first performance in New Zealand since 2019.

In an Instagram Story ahead of the Auckland show, Lily Allen told fans that she had “come down with a viral infection” and could not perform. She addressed the message to her “West End Girls in Auckland” and said she felt “absolutely gutted” about the cancellation.

Allen also apologized to fans who had traveled for the concert. “All tickets will be refunded,” she wrote, adding that she hoped to return and see Auckland audiences soon.

Promoter Frontier Touring confirmed the cancellation, stating that Allen was unwell and unable to perform following medical advice. The promoter said it would automatically issue refunds to the original payment method. However, processing could take 14 to 21 days, depending on the bank.

The Auckland stop held special significance because it would have marked Allen’s first New Zealand performance since her 2019 No Shame tour. She had planned to launch the Australian and New Zealand leg of Lily Allen Performs West End Girl at Spark Arena before heading to Australia.

The setback comes during an eventful year for Allen’s tour. In September, she admitted that weaker ticket sales forced changes to several North American dates. Promoters moved some performances into smaller venues, while Allen also canceled a Montreal stop.

Still, the singer continued touring behind West End Girl, her 2025 album centered on the breakdown of her marriage to David Harbour. She has also spoken candidly about experiencing her first major tour while sober.

For now, Allen has not announced a replacement Auckland date. Her message focused on recovering from the viral infection and apologizing to fans affected by the sudden concert cancellation.
