Speaking to TMZ, Crump addressed reports that several of Nolan’s friends had hired prominent attorneys, including lawyer J. Tyler Cox, who has represented President Donald Trump, along with defamation attorney Edward Andrew Palitzik.
Rather than expressing concern, Crump downplayed the development. “The boys’ choice of attorney is just a distraction,” he said. According to Crump, the legal representatives do not change what matters most to Nolan’s family.
“The only thing that matters to me and Nolan’s family is getting to the truth about what happened,” Crump said. He emphasized that the family’s focus remains on learning exactly what led to Nolan’s death rather than becoming distracted by legal strategies or public attention.
The comments come as multiple investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the 18-year-old’s death. Nolan disappeared after traveling to Mississippi’s Horn Island with a group of friends over the Fourth of July weekend. His body was later recovered, while officials continue examining the circumstances surrounding his death.
Reports indicated Cox and Paltzik also want answers about what happened. The attorneys have announced plans to visit Horn Island to examine the location where Nolan disappeared and was later found.
Meanwhile, Crump has reportedly said the Wells family continues seeking transparency throughout the investigation. He has also called for witnesses with information to come forward as authorities and the family’s legal team conduct separate inquiries.
Nolan’s official autopsy has been completed, but the findings have not yet been released publicly. An independent autopsy commissioned by the family listed his cause and manner of death as undetermined pending further investigation.
As attention surrounding the case continues to grow, Crump insisted the focus should remain on uncovering the facts. He maintained that legal headlines should not overshadow the family’s search for answers.
