Nolan Wells Investigation Expands as Third Suspect Faces Witness Threat Charges

Nolan Wells‘ case took another turn after federal authorities charged a third suspect with threatening witnesses in the investigation. Officials said the latest arrest marks an expansion of the ongoing witness intimidation case, which remains separate from the investigation into Wells’ death.

Authorities said the latest charges mark an expansion of the federal Nolan Wells witness intimidation investigation

According to court records, 40-year-old Edward James Porter, from Berwyn, was charged with sending threatening messages across state lines. Prosecutors said he threatened to kill two witnesses connected to the Nolan Wells investigation, along with their family members

The complaint alleges Porter claimed that he had one witness’s address, which he texted them before making the threats. He repeatedly threatened another witness to kill them and the family members and allegedly warned that he would also kill any police officers who responded. Porter told one witness that he was going to cut them up and put them into a suitcase, a court document states.

Investigators said records obtained from Boost Mobile helped them trace the phone number and IP address that Porter allegedly used to make the threats. They eventually identified Porter as the suspect.

Porter is the third person to face federal charges related to witness intimidation in the case. Earlier, Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce and Michelle Francine Edwards were also charged over alleged bomb and death threats. In that case, they targeted witnesses and judicial officials connected to the investigation.

Despite the latest arrests, no one has been charged in connection with Nolan Wells’ disappearance or death. The 18-year-old disappeared after a July 4 trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. His body was found two days later, and the investigation remains ongoing.
