Alicia Carmody addressed Liz McGraw‘s departure from The Real Housewives of Rhode Island. Liz confirmed she would not return for the show’s second season. Carmody said she supported her former costar’s decision while leaving the door open for her return.
Alicia discusses Liz McGraw’s departure from RHORI before Season 2
She spoke about Liz’s departure while promoting her partnership with Ziploc. She said she supported Liz’s decision to step away from the Bravo reality series. Alicia also admitted that Liz’s departure was difficult after their first season together.
“I fully support her in her decision,” Alicia told Us Weekly. She explained that Liz needed to do what was best for herself. Alicia also hoped Liz would eventually return if she wanted to.
“The door is always open. Andy [Cohen] said,” Alicia added. Andy previously responded to Liz’s announcement with the same message. His comment suggested that Liz could potentially return to RHORI in the future.
Alicia admitted that she and Liz were never especially close friends. However, she still considered Liz a friend despite their distance. “I’m a friend from a distance,” Alicia explained about their current relationship.
The reality star also discussed Liz’s behaviour during the reunion. Alicia believed Liz appeared distant because she already knew about her departure. She said she chose to give Liz space during that period.
Liz officially announced her decision to leave RHORI in July. She said she wanted to focus on her family, work, and personal passions. Liz also praised her former castmates and said they created something special together.
Although Liz will not appear during Season 2, she said she would continue watching. She also promised to root for her friends and their continued success. Liz described herself as enjoying the show from “the other side of the camera.”
Alicia and Liz were among the original cast members of RHORI’s first season. The cast also included Rosie DiMare, Ashley Iaconetti, Rulla Nehme Pontarelli, Kelsey Swanson, and Jo-Ellen Tiberi. Alicia and Liz’s friendship had also faced tension during the show’s debut season.
