Black Sabbath’s lead guitarist Tony Iommi has released an album after two decades, called “From The Dark.”
The band’s founder said that Ozzy Osbourne and he shared text messages the day before the latter died.

While Iommi fans are in for a blast with a new album release, the guitarist cannot forget Osbourne’s last text. He said: “I didn’t expect him to go overnight. It was a hell of a shock.” The guitarist admitted that Ozzy’s death made it difficult to return to work on the project. Although ‘From The Dark’ had been in development for two years, Iommi stepped away from recording for a period as he mourned the loss of his longtime Black Sabbath bandmate.
As The Sun reports, the album is deeply set in Birmingham, which is also reflected by the T-shirts and other merchandise. It took two years to make, with some time going to mourn the band’s co-founder in July.
Iommi also enlisted Jorn Lande on vocals, bassist Becky Baldwin, and Robbie Williams’ longtime drummer Karl Brazil for the album. As reported by The Sun, the album has eight tracks, with two extra songs in the Deluxe version.
Queen’s Brian May also plays a guest solo on Death Wake. It also features the upbeat track World Alone, which alone justifies his nickname “The Master of The Riffs”.
Iommi launched the dystopian music video for “World Alone” at a private event. The guitarist also insisted that he has “never liked” music videos. Even though he is reluctant to face the cameras, he hinted at resuming performances, saying it is “a possibility”.
Iommi was made an MBE in the King’s birthday honours last month. When asked when he was going to Buckingham Palace, the musician joked, “I’d forgotten about that. They have probably changed their minds now.”
Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne were founding members of Black Sabbath, whose pioneering heavy metal sound made them two of the genre’s most influential figures. Despite having many disputes, the pair stayed close until Osbourne’s death.
