Jessica Shannon has officially moved to end her marriage to Shyann McCant after announcing their separation in June. The court filing became public days after Mama June Shannon brought infidelity claims into the former couple’s already public breakup.
Jessica’s divorce filing comes after Mama June accused Shyann McCant of cheating
According to divorce documents exclusively obtained by Us Weekly, Jessica, 29, filed her petition in Georgia on July 17. She listed June 1 as the date of separation and said the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” The filing predates Mama June’s July 21 posts about the breakup.
The timing matters because Jessica did not file for divorce in response to her mother’s public accusations. Instead, news of the petition emerged after June accused Shyann of cheating and identified a woman named Mackenzie as her new partner.
Jessica and Shyann, 23, legally married in February 2025. They later filmed another wedding ceremony for “Mama June: Family Crisis”, which aired during the Season 8 finale on May 15. The series has continued to document the Shannon family’s personal conflicts and changing relationships.
Jessica announced the split in a June 2 Facebook post. She initially described the decision as mutual and said she and Shyann remained friends. She also asked followers to avoid sending either of them hate or creating “unnecessary drama.”
Shyann later responded to Mama June’s allegations on Facebook. She admitted that she cheated, accepted responsibility and said she had asked Jessica for a divorce several times because she was unhappy. Shyann also claimed that problems involving Mama June contributed to her desire to leave the marriage.
The admission added context to Mama June’s claims, but Shyann criticized the decision to make private details public. She asked social media users to direct criticism toward her rather than Mackenzie.
Jessica also addressed the controversy on Facebook. She said she knew about Shyann and Mackenzie’s relationship and acknowledged that the way events unfolded initially hurt her. However, she said she now wanted everyone involved to be happy and remained focused on maintaining a bond with Shyann’s daughter.
The divorce petition marks the legal next step after the former couple’s June separation. Neither Jessica nor Shyann has publicly disputed the filing details reported by Us Weekly.
