Jay-Z’s Legal Fight Over Alleged Son Returns to Court

Jay-Z isn’t done with his decade-long legal drama concerning Rymir Satterthwaite, just yet. This time, Beyoncé‘s husband is cornering Satterthwaite’s grandmother in an effort to protect the 6-figure sum that she owes him. Lillie Coley owes the rapper $119,000 as a part of the previous judgment.

According to TMZ, Jay-Z filed new legal paperwork this week related to Lillie Coley‘s ongoing bankruptcy case. The rapper asked the court to ensure the $119,000 doesn’t get wiped out as part of her bankruptcy proceedings.

The American rapper and billionaire businessman argued that the debt shouldn’t be erased, pointing to the judge’s earlier ruling. He said Coley was ordered to pay the money due to her “fraudulent statements and misrepresentations designed to harass and target” the rapper.

His legal team further argued that over the past decade, Coley has “harassed” Jay-Z through “numerous unfounded court filings, online campaigns, and public statements”.

Coley is Satterthwaite’s grandmother, who has served as his legal guardian throughout the legal dispute. Recently, she pushed back, asking the court to throw out the rapper’s petition on procedural grounds. The case is still going on.

The filing is a part of Satterthwaite’s claim that Jay-Z is his biological father—a claim the music mogul has denied for years. Satterthwaite alleges his late mother, Wanda, had a relationship with now Beyoncé’s husband in the 1990s that led to his birth.

According to the rapper’s legal team, every lawsuit Coley has brought against him was dismissed, though harassment still continues. So, Jay-Z wants to ensure Coley faces the financial consequences this time, even as she faces bankruptcy.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been married since April 4, 2008. They share three children: Blue Ivy Carter and twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
