Paddy McNally remained a prominent figure in Formula One long after dating Sarah Ferguson
Sarah Ferguson’s ex-boyfriend, Paddy McNally, before she married Prince Andrew, died after a long illness. He is better known as a Formula One driver and journalist before moving into management. His death came months after his elder son, Sean, died suddenly, though reasons remain unknown.
McNally founded Allsport Management SA, which offered advertising for F1 and corporate hospitality. Later he sold the company and served as chief executive before retiring in 2011.
McNally and Ferguson dated from 1982 to 1985; he was 20 years older than her and was a widower with two sons, Sean and Rollo. She later married Prince Andrew, and they have two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Fergie separated from Andrew in 1996, and she remained in contact with McNally following the split. According to People, she took her daughters to his ski chalets in Verbier for skiing. One of the chalets was reportedly made available to Andrew and Sarah after scrutiny of their alleged association with Epstein became public.
Andrew was stripped of his titles, honors, and military affiliations following the controversy. The former Duchess of York is reportedly keeping a low profile amid her ongoing public scrutiny.
In 2024, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were seen with McNally, who ranked as the 248th richest person in the U.K. in 2025.
His death marks the end of a decades-long friendship between Ferguson and McNally. Neither Sarah Ferguson nor Prince Andrew has made any public comment regarding his death.
