Joe Rogan Stuns Fans With Story About Former Guest’s Murder Case

Joe Rogan revisited one of the strangest chapters in his podcast’s history this week. A former guest now stands accused of murder. The comment surfaced during Wednesday’s episode with physician Zach Bush, when the conversation turned to people who hide what they are. Rogan’s account spread quickly, and the case behind it is still before the courts.

The revelation stunned Joe Rogan’s audience

Rogan told Bush, the podcast had once hosted someone who went on to kill a man and decapitate him, saying, “We had a guy in this studio that cut a guy’s head off.”

He described a dispute between the two men and said the accused later put on a wig and was caught on surveillance video. Much of the Joe Rogan audience was hearing the connection for the first time, and clips circulated within hours.

Rogan was referring to Sheldon Johnson, a criminal justice activist who appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” in February 2024 to discuss rebuilding his life after 25 years in prison. He sat alongside civil rights attorney Josh Dublin and had gone on to work as a client advocate for the public defender group Queens Defenders.

About a month later, on March 5, 2024, police conducting a welfare check at a Bronx apartment found human remains. The victim was identified as Collin Small, 44. Johnson, then 48, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon and concealment of a human corpse.

Johnson pleaded not guilty, was ordered ‘held without bail’ and has maintained his innocence. Prosecutors have said surveillance footage from the building placed him at the scene. The case has not reached a verdict.

Rogan raised the episode in passing rather than as a segment of its own, which is part of why it landed the way it did. The exchange has since driven a fresh wave of Joe Rogan latest news coverage across entertainment outlets. Representatives for the podcast have not commented.
